
A global nonprofit educational and service organization that advocates for and supports women and gender‑diverse individuals in engineering and technology — through scholarships, professional development, networking, advocacy, and outreach programs. Its mission is to empower women to achieve their full potential in careers as engineers and leaders and to expand the image and impact of engineering and technology.
The Society of Women Engineers (SWE) Scholarship Program provides financial support to women pursuing engineering, engineering technology, computing, and related fields at the community college, undergraduate, and graduate levels.
In 2025, SWE awarded 330+ new and renewed scholarships totaling over USD 1.5 million, making it one of the largest scholarship programs supporting women in engineering globally.
The program is open to both SWE members and non-members, although some scholarships require SWE membership.
Eligible fields include:
Engineering
Engineering Technology
Computing
Engineering-related disciplines
All programs must be ABET-accredited.
Applicants must:
Be planning to attend or currently enrolled in a school with ABET-accredited programs;
Study in an ABET-accredited program under one of the following accreditation commissions:
Engineering Accreditation Commission (EAC)
Computing Accreditation Commission (CAC)
Technology Accreditation Commission (TAC)
Community College / Undergraduate Students:
Must be planning to study an ABET-accredited program in the upcoming academic year.
Master’s & PhD Students:
Must be enrolled or accepted in a graduate program related to engineering, computing, or technology at an institution with ABET-accredited programs.
Must plan to attend full-time
(exceptions may be made for reentry and non-traditional students);
Transcripts must be in English;
Open to SWE members and non-members.
SWE uses one centralized application system:
One application for sophomores through graduate students
One application for freshmen
One application for students studying in India
Applicants submit one application and are automatically considered for all scholarships for which they are eligible.

Application deadline: February 2, 2026

Final submission timestamp: Tuesday, February 3, 2026 – 01:00 AM (UTC equivalent)
