Program Overview

The AI Program is a virtual, one-year career development program designed to equip students with the technical and professional skills required for entry-level roles in Machine Learning, Data Science, and Artificial Intelligence.

Developed by industry and academic leaders, the program combines:

• Intensive machine learning training

• Industry-sponsored real-world projects

• Mentorship and career coaching

• Internship placement support

Participants complete a structured ML Foundations curriculum during the summer, followed by hands-on industry challenge projects during the academic year, preparing them for practical, job-ready roles in AI and ML.

Program Structure

Summer Phase (May – August)

• Time Commitment: 12–15 hours/week

• Mode: Online (Asynchronous coursework + Live lab sessions)

• Focus:

  • Data analysis pipelines

  • Machine learning model training & validation

  • Industry-standard ML & AI tools

• Outcome:
  ✅ Earn a Machine Learning Certificate from Cornell University

Academic Year Phase (August – April)

• Time Commitment: ~6 hours/week

• Activities:

  • Team-based industry challenge projects

  • Small-group mentorship

  • AI Studio portfolio development

• Outcome:
  ✅ Receive a financial award after completing the full program

Eligibility Requirements

Applicants must meet all of the following:

• Currently enrolled in an Associate (2-year) or Bachelor’s (4-year) degree program at a U.S. accredited institution

• Expected to graduate with a Bachelor’s degree in:

  • Spring or Fall 2027

  • Spring or Fall 2028

  • Spring or Fall 2029

• Associate degree students must plan to transfer to a Bachelor’s program by Fall 2025

• Major or intended major in:

  • Computer Science

  • Engineering

  • Mathematics

  • Or other related technical disciplines

• Minimum 2.0 GPA and in good academic standing

• Must be a:

  • U.S. Citizen

  • Permanent Resident

  • Visa Holder

  • Or have a valid SSN or ITIN

• Have 1–2 years (2–4 semesters) of prior coding experience in any programming language

• Strong interest in AI, Machine Learning, and Data Science
