AI Career Accelerator Program (AICAP)
Sponsor: Amii (Alberta Machine Intelligence Institute)
Program Type: Career Development / Post-Graduate AI Training
Location: Edmonton, Canada (Hybrid: in-person + online)
Open To: Graduate-level AI talent
Eligibility: MSc, PhD, or equivalent experience in AI-related fields
Program Overview
The AI Career Accelerator Program (AICAP) is Amii’s flagship development pathway designed for graduate-level technical AI talent who want to advance into industry, research, and applied AI roles. The program enhances the academic knowledge of AI researchers through structured professional development, practical experience, and mentorship from Machine Learning experts.
AICAP prepares participants to transition from academic training to high-impact AI careers.

1. Professional Development
Workshops, expert presentations, and career spotlight sessions
Self-directed online courses to explore AI career paths
Training in communication, leadership, and applied industry skills
2. Paid Work Opportunities
Work-Integrated Learning Opportunities (WILOs):
Hands-on, paid projects with mentorship from Amii ML expertsPriority updates on Amii Resident research roles
Practical experience applying AI and ML in real-world contexts
3. 1:1 Career-Building Support
Resume and CV review sessions
Interview preparation and coaching
Personalized career planning support
4. Community & Networking
Coworking space at Amii HQ (Downtown Edmonton)

Eligibility Criteria
Education Requirements
Enrolled in or completed a graduate program (MSc or PhD) in AI
Undergraduate or Non-CS graduates may qualify with at least one of the following:
Lab internship with an Amii Fellow
Participation in Amii-affiliated startup projects
Executive role in an AI-related student organization
AI-focused research internship
Participation in AI4Good Lab or UR2PhD programs
Technical Skills
Applicants must demonstrate:
Proficiency in data structures, algorithms, linear algebra, statistics, and ML
Programming experience in Python, R, or MATLAB
Interest & Experience
Strong interest in AI/ML/Data Science
Prior academic projects, internships, research, or competitions
Clear intention to apply AI/ML skills to future career goals
Work Eligibility
Must be eligible to work in Canada (citizen, PR, or valid work permit)
Amii Affiliation (Optional)
Affiliation with an Amii Fellow or CIFAR AI Chair is beneficial but not required
