The CBAI Spring Research Fellowship is a 10-week, fully funded research program designed to advance careers in AI safety, including both technical research and AI governance. Fellows will gain mentorship, research experience, and networking opportunities in the Harvard–MIT AI safety ecosystem.
Program highlights include:
Mentorship from researchers at Harvard, MIT, Google DeepMind, UK AI Security Institute, and other leading institutions
Collaboration with the AI Safety Student Team at Harvard and MIT AI Alignment
Contribution to research outputs: papers, blog posts, demos, and policy proposals
Stipend: $8,000 for the 10-week program
Accommodation: Provided for fellows from outside the Boston metro area
Meals & Snacks: Free weekday lunches and dinners, coffee, and beverages
Workspace: 24/7 access to office in Harvard Square
Compute Support: Up to $10,000 in API credits and on-demand GPUs
Networking: Weekly workshops, social events, and mentorship sessions
Extension Fellowship: Optional 1–4 month extension for continued research (≈50% of previous cohort received extensions)
Must be 18+ years old
Fellows working with Cambridge-area mentors are expected to use mentors’ labs at least one day per week
